The Shergold SP01SD Provocateur 1 has its solid mahogany body loaded with USA-made Seymour Duncan SP90 and SH-PG1B Pearly Gates Humbucker pickups. This configuration delivers a tone that sings with a vintage voice and oozes bucket loads of growl and Texas mojo when desired.

It features a truly vintage scale length with a roasted mahogany neck and Macassan ebony fingerboard. The Solid Battleship Grey colouring with a high-gloss finish perfectly complements the tough and road-ready character of a Shergold guitar.

The second instalment in the modern re-invention of the legendary Shergold brand, the Provocateur is designed in the UK by British guitar luthier Patrick James Eggle and combines remarkable specification with a retro vibe for a unique and bona fide rock guitar.

I've only had it a day but so far it's fantastic. It looks and plays great. Lovely, varied tones with the pickup combinations and the coil split. Very comfortable and just feels "classy" for want of a better word. Looks classy too with a fairly traditional look but still modern look. Minor niggles are that I can't see how to adjust the bridge pickup height and the strap buttons are a bit small. Minor stuff though. Overall brilliant and I think I'll like it even more when I've played it in a bit.

I already have 2 Shergold guitars from the 19802, Meteor 6 string and Masquerader 12 string, both of which have been excellent both in playability and sound. I just bought my 1st provocateur and am blown away and delighted as these are just as playable and sound fantastic. Iâ€™m so happy that they have been resurrected. Every pro player needs one in their arsenal.

Had been a dream of mine to own this guitar basically since I started playing around 4 years ago. Just the look of the thing, timeless, a beautiful balance, clean, just grabbed my eyes like no other guitar had. And I must say I'm not the most competent player, nor all that knowledgeable about pick-ups etc. but that damn P90 was such a good choice, and just a beautifully made guitar all around, couldn't be happier. Will be playing this for many years to come, cheers to Patrick and the rest of Shergold-guitars for a dream come true.
